There are many types of flooring out there from cement to vinyl, to wood and marble. Each has its own requirements for care and maintenance, and if you have a luxury floor like marble and granite even more so. They are more delicate and require more protection and care.
When cleaning the floor, it’s important to use the right products and tools. That way, your floor will stay in good condition and you will save money in the long run by not having to replace them.
Normally, to clean floors, sponges, mops, cleaners, and sealants are used. It depends on the type of flooring. Neutral cleaner is made to clean sealed flooring before sealing again or as daily maintenance.
Sealing products are made to be applied in high traffic areas and can be polished more than 3 times a week. They don’t turn yellow with time, and you have to just apply and then polish, without having to remove or scrub.
If you are cleaning stone floors, don’t use anything acidic like vinegar, for example. When in doubt about what to use, go to a flooring professional, who will let you know which products are right for the type of flooring that you have. This way, you’ll be able to adequately care for it.
Depending on the type of flooring, you may need to do immediate clean up, or not. You may need to seal it every once in a while.
Minimum, it’s a good idea to sweep at least once a day, and mop twice a week. It doesn’t have to be an in-depth mop, but you can try mopping with a damp microfiber cloth.
And, if you are going to use a cleaner, don’t use one that says it will leave a nice shine. Most of those products have an acrylic polish in them that can lead to discoloring.
